A box of delights
Enchanting and exquisite chocolates have been a part of the Bettys story from its beginning. Before that, even: when he opened the very first Bettys Café Tea Room in Harrogate in 1919, our founder Frederick Belmont could already style himself ‘Chocolate Specialist’, having refined his skills studying with the master confectioners of Switzerland and Paris.
Nearly a century later, the chocolatiers at our Craft Bakery uphold Frederick’s standards of imagination and finesse in every chocolate they create – rich truffles, nutty pralines, dainty creams, soft marzipans and indulgent caramels. From classics such as our Lady Betty Peppermint Creams to new favourites like our Salted Caramel Chocolates, all are crafted from the finest Swiss Grand Cru made from prized Venezuelan Criollo cocoa beans, then hand-finished with a dedicated eye for detail.
Some of our most special collections are kept just for this time of year, including our Bettys Enchanting Chocolate Collection, our Christmas Chocolate Selection and our Bettys Christmas Chocolate Box. With designs inspired by magical Christmases gone by and featuring the nostalgic illustrations of Yorkshire artist Emily Sutton, each of the boxes is a joy to behold.
And that’s before the lucky recipient opens the box to choose which of the tempting creations inside will be the first to be sampled. This Christmas, we’ve added three wonderfully beguiling new chocolates: the Roasted Hazelnut Truffle, the Black Forest Truffle, and the Espresso & Cognac Truffle.
We’ve also – if you’ll excuse the pun – created some chocolates that truly embody the Christmas spirit. Our Chocolate Liqueur Stars feature sumptuously rich ganache centres fortified with Cointreau and cognac, housed in white and milk chocolate star-shaped shells and dusted with icing sugar and cocoa.
