Toasting marzipan is a continental trick to bring out the flavour of roasted almonds along with subtle notes of caramel. It’s a truly scrumptious topping for our classic Christmas cake, a malty, treacly recipe that is chock-full with sherry-soaked vine fruits, cherries and fragrant candied citrus.

A rather glorious, toasty little cake just brimming with festive cheer.
