There are a few magic ingredients that make a Bettys Christmas cake so tempting; high quality vine fruits soaked in lots of sherry, sticky glacé cherries, lashings of black treacle for a malty, moist cake and the scent of candied citrus, which hits you the moment you open the wrapping.
