Bettys York shows off her new curves

Bettys York shows off her new curves
1 February 2016

Staff at Bettys in York are celebrating the completion of a redesign of the ground floor café. Inspired by the 1930s style Belmont Room on the first floor of the Tea Rooms, the makeover includes new feature lighting, Marron Imperial marble tables and Lloyd Loom chairs. Curvaceous banquette seating in leather and sapele and sycamore wood from renewable sources has been crafted by Peter Thompson of York, whilst new carpeting carries a design inspired by the almonds and cherries decorations on Bettys fruitcake.

The Grade II listed building has housed Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms since 1937. The Tea Rooms are open from 9am till 9pm seven days a week and the first floor Belmont Room offers the reservations-only Lady Betty Afternoon Tea, Thursdays to Sundays. Customers can book online at www.bettys.co.uk or telephone 01904 659142.
